How it started
Five years, and a very loyal chair
MJ Hair started in a living room. Word got round — the colour, the care, the way we actually listen — and today it’s a bright little salon right on Kirkgate, in the middle of Wakefield.
“I’ve been doing this for almost five years now,” says our founder, “and since I’ve had this team, I’ve fallen in love with my work all over again.” It shows: a 5.0 rating, 68 reviews and clients who’ve stayed seven, eight years and counting.

The girls behind the chair
Whoever you’re booked with, you’re in good hands. Our founder leads on the smoothing treatments — keratin and nanoplasty are what she’s known for.
Joanna and Kirsty each bring more than ten years to the chair, and they’re the ones clients ask for by name for a cut and colour that “looks so natural”. Martyna’s five years in and still obsessed with a good result.
Between us that’s 25+ years of experience — and a salon where nobody rushes you and everybody listens first.
